Join the Team: Volunteering with Bridgend Automobile Club
The Heart of Grassroots Motorsport
Since 1959, Bridgend Automobile Club has been a cornerstone of the South Wales motorsport community. From our historic roots in Colwinston to our modern-day “grassroots” events like Autotests and Gymkhanas, our club thrives on the passion and dedication of volunteers.
Whether you are a lifelong petrolhead or a newcomer looking to get closer to the action, volunteering is the best way to experience the thrill of motorsport. You don’t need a specialised car or a racing license to be part of the volunteer team—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get involved.
Why Volunteer with BAC?
Volunteers are the “orange family” that keeps the wheels of UK motorsport turning. By joining our team of marshals and officials, you will:
- Get the Best Seat in the House: Experience the skill of our competitors from trackside.
- Build Your Skills: Gain hands-on experience in event management, timekeeping, and safety
- Support Local Talent: Help us provide safe, low-cost competitive events for drivers of all ages and abilities.
- Join a Community: Become part of a friendly club where people are always happy to share knowledge, stories, and a mutual love for all things automotive.
Roles for Everyone
Our events require a variety of dedicated officials to run safely and effectively. We are always looking for:
- Marshals: The eyes and ears of the event, ensuring the course is clear and safe for every run.
- Timekeepers & Assistants: Helping us accurately record the split-second results that decide our championships.
- Judges of Fact: Providing the leadership and oversight necessary to uphold the rules and spirit of the sport.
- Event Support: Assisting with signing-on, paddock management, first aid, equipment setup and much more.
Getting Started
No previous experience is necessary to start your journey as we provide the guidance needed to help you begin. Many of our volunteers go on to register with Motorsport UK and the British Motorsport Marshal Club (BMMC), gaining access to national grading schemes and the opportunity to officiate at major events across the UK.
